Biography:

My name is Kellie Smith, and I am the 6-12 guidance counselor for Geneva County Middle and High Schools. Before joining the GECO team, I worked as an English Language Arts teacher at Slocomb Middle School for thirteen years. My husband, Malcolm, and I are the proud parents of five children and even prouder grandparents of seven grandchildren.

I graduated from Slocomb High School and attended ESCC for one year until taking a break from academics to work and build a career as a banker at Friend Bank, where I worked for sixteen years. When the opportunity arose for me to return to college, I attended Troy University and earned a degree in Secondary Education, English Language Arts in 2013. That same year, I began my teaching career as an 8th-grade ELA teacher at Slocomb Middle School, where I worked for thirteen years. In 2020, I decided to return to college to earn my master's degree in school counseling at the University of West Alabama.

I am happy to begin my career as a guidance counselor at Geneva County Middle and High Schools this year. I have a heart for working with adolescents and look forward to getting to know the GECO students. This school has some amazing educators and leaders, and I am excited to work alongside them as we work together to make our school the best it can be.
